Liturgy Committee

The Liturgy Committee is a group of parish members who, with the Deacon and Pastoral Associate, take on the responsibility for tending the liturgy. The rhythm of the church year, like the cultural year, continues to move and change. It is the ministry of the Liturgy Committee to see that movement honored in every way.

For example, it is the liturgy committee
…that suggests the themes that will be highlighted during the seasons of Advent and Lent.
…that trains the lectors, gives them background materials to help in their proclamation of the Word.
…that makes sure we have new altar servers to fill in for those moving on and growing up.
…that invites parish members to use their creative skills to build our parish e.g., built our lovely “ambry” (holds holy oils) above the baptismal font .

How much time does it take?

The liturgy committee meets once a month. As we approach each liturgical season, members are asked to look ahead at the readings for the season, pray over them and offer insight for the community. There is usually some additional time spent during the seasons of Advent and Lent.

How do I know if I would make a good liturgy committee member?

Anyone who has an interest in our liturgy and wants to know more about it would make a wonderful addition to our group. The committee meets the first Tuesday of each month at 9:00 A.M. in the rectory.
