CALLED TO BE “LEAVEN AND LIGHT”
St. Timothy’s Parish Advisory Council was developed in response to the Second Vatican Council call for greater lay participation in the mission of the Church. Our purpose is to work with our Pastor in implementing a wider and more fruitful lay activity in our church and parish life. Consider us a channel through which the concerns and needs of the entire parish family can be presented and addressed.
St. Timothy’s Parish Advisory Council consists of nine members elected by the parishioners, plus the pastor, staff, and the immediate ex-president. Only elected members vote.
Nominations are open to all members of the parish and voting is done by written ballots found in the pews at all the Masses on a selected weekend in May.
Members serve a three-year term and, if willing, serve a second three-year term. An effort is made to encourage a culturally diverse council representing the West Hartford and Bloomfield areas. Elected members serve either as officers and/or chairs or liaisons to committees.
General Parish Council meetings are OPEN TO ALL PARISHIONERS. Meetings usually take place the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Rectory (see calendar on homepage). We welcome you to come see us in action!
If you should ever wish to submit an item for a meeting agenda, simply bring it to the attention of a Parish Council member at least two weeks prior to the meeting date.
