The Men’s Retreat League is a group of men who organize the Men’s Retreat each year. The Men’s Retreat League serves as a vehicle for all adult men of the parish community to come together for a weekend of reflection, relaxation, prayer, and spiritual inspiration and sustenance.
There is an opportunity for private, individual self-renewal in the peaceful environment away from the pressures of work, home, and family anxieties. All events are voluntary. The retreat is thematic in nature and aimed at meeting the needs for mental, physical, and spiritual renewal.
Held in February, usually on Super Bowl Weekend, the retreat takes place at the Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center, a self-contained spacious 65 acre campus on Tunxis Road in West Hartford. The regionally-renowned Retreat Team, which leads nearly 30 weekend retreats each year, brings a wealth of experience, theological education, and inspiration to your spiritual journey.
The 2019 Retreat was held February 1-3. God has called all of us to lives of holiness. No Ordinary Path explored ways that we can be attentive, intentional, and cooperative with God’s grace in serving the world. The ways in which we express this particular call is unique and specific to each one of us. Pope Francis said “each person, in his or her own way, is called to holiness. We should not grow discouraged before examples of holiness that appear unattainable. The important thing is that each person find his or her own path, that they bring out the very best of themselves, the most personal gifts that God has placed in their hearts.” Holiness is a lifetime process of becoming the best version of yourself. Loving God and loving our neighbor as ourselves is the goal of our lives and the measure of our holiness. “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another …” (Colossians 3:12) Living an ordinary life of holiness can lead to extraordinary happiness and peace.
