Baptism: Baptism is the basis for the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to all the other sacraments.
Infant Baptism: This sacrament is celebrated by appointment, usually following the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Mass. Parents bringing their first child to be baptized are asked to attend a pre-baptismal instructional class. This class is generally held on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the faculty room of St. Timothy Middle School. This time of preparation gives an overview of the meaning of the sacrament and its symbols and lasts approximately one hour. Parents who have already attended this formation need not do it again for children to follow. To register for the pre-baptismal instruction class or to schedule a Baptism, please call Sr. Ann Kane, CSJ at the Rectory (860-794-5295).
Child Baptism: If your child was not presented for Baptism as an infant, but you would like to have them received into God’s church through Baptism now, they are most welcome! Please contact Sr. Ann Kane, CSJ at the Rectory (860-794-5295) to discuss next steps appropriate to your child’s age.
Adult Baptism: In the case of an adult wishing to be baptized, the Parish of St. Timothy offers the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. This process consists of weekly sessions with the goal of introducing the adult to the basics of the Catholic faith. Sr. Ann Kane, Pastoral Associate, facilitates the process with a team of volunteers who offer support and encouragement as they share their stories of living the Catholic faith. To learn more about the RCIA process, call Sr. Ann Kane, CSJ at the rectory (860-794-5295).
